I love The Sims! No, they're not neighbors or relatives. The Sims, for those of you who have productive and uncomplicated lives, is the #1 selling computer game of all time. You create simulated people, build homes for them and buy them stuff. Click on the "live" button, and let them do their thing! Based on the personality you created for them, different things motivate them in different ways. Some are happiest when they are cleaning, others would say sitting in a filth and bug-infested room and watching horror films all day is living la vida loca! There are a few common needs in all Sims - the need to eat, sleep and go to the bathroom, to name a few.

You, as the Sim Creator, have the option of putting complementary Sims together and letting them fall in love, or you can put opposites in a household and watch them fight all day and make each other cry!
Well, guess what! As if SimLife wasn't complicated enough, EAGames just released The Sims 2! WAHOO!!!! Now the Sims are 3-D and not only have the basic needs, but they have aspirations and fears. They may aspire to be mega-rich, they may aspire to be a party-animal slacker. Or they may aspire to raise a family. There are five major aspirations, but throughout the game instantaneous wants and fears surface. What can I say, sometimes a Sim just can't get enough toaster pastries! In other examples, some of the desires a Sim may have are to smooch, talk, flirt, tell jokes, get a promotion, meet new friends, buy a new sofa or have a baby. As far as fears go, some Sims fear roaches, losing a friend, having a boring party, receiving a visit from the repo man, being rejected, being abducted by aliens, or using a public restroom. These Sims can be very quirky!

I mentioned that some Sims may want to have babies. Yes, Virginia, when Sims love each other, they sometimes make babies (and sometimes in this game, they get abducted by aliens and end up having little green bundles of joy) after a gestational period. Sims age and procreate. If they have a happy childhood and learn about good behavior early, they grow to be good teenagers and successful adults. And if not, well, they become our next-door neighbor's children! If you dote over one child, the other may be unsure of him/herself, or they may become troubled, rude failures, or even promiscuous. They pick up a share of personality and genetic traits from each of their parents (yes, even if one parent happens to be from another planet). How exciting/troublesome is that???

And to top it all off, there is a built-in clothes maker program! I've become quite a fashionista! I've even made Fintiki-wear clothes (naturally).
